Robert F. Swayger 1947 - 2006 WESTFIELD - Robert F. "Bud" Swayger, 59, of 18 Liewellyn Dr. died Wednesday, May 17th at home. Born in Springfield, Bud was raised in East Longmeadow and was a resident of Westfield since 1973. Bud served his country proudly as a Srgt. in the United States Air Force where he received a medal of commendation for his meritous service in the 56th Air commando wing, Vietnam. Bud was a long time, well-known plumber, who started in business with his late father-in-law, James "Jimmy" Affenito. He received his master license in 1972. Bud also attended the Andover Institute for business management and accounting in Springfield, where he met his wife of 28 years, Raphaella M. Affentito Swayger. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Westfield and a former communicant of St. Michael's Church, East Longmeadow. Bud enjoyed coaching Westfield Little League Baseball and Westfield Youth Soccer. Above all else, Bud deeply loved and cherished his family and cared for all his friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves his mother, Ruth (Maurer) Swayger of East Longmeadow. His three "boys"; Matthew R., Michael J., and David F., all of Westfield. His "little girl", Christina M. of Westfield; two brother's, Thomas C., of Springfield and Steven P. of Feeding Hills, a sister, Diane R. Swayger of East longmeadow and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be Wednesday, 9 a.m. from the Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St. (Rte 20), followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, all in Westfield. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199.
