Welcome to the ELHS Class of ’64

The goal of this website, which was created November 23, 2010, is to give classmates from the ELHS Class of 1964 an opportunity to reconnect. The site offers the same opportunity to relatives, friends, alumni from other classes, teachers, and principals, who can join the site as guest members.

We would like to know where you’ve been, what you’ve been doing, and where you are now, and we hope that you will use this opportunity to reconnect with your high school friends.
The site also includes several pages of historical information pertaining to the era of 1964--about both our class and the people we knew and the events and people in the "background" of our lives at that time. The aim of that section is to provide a permanent historical record of where we were and who we were in 1964.
All of the classmates’ names have been entered into the website list, found at Classmate Profiles in the menu to the left.

  HOW TO JOIN

If you graduated from ELHS in 1964, your name appears in the menu at the left under Classmate Profiles. Find your name, click on it, and you will go to the JOIN HERE link. Follow the instructions on that page. If you have any questions, or want to be added as a guest member, click on Contact Us and send us a message.

When you find your name on the list and create your profile, please tell us what you have been doing, what you are doing now, and some of your favorite high school memories. You will find the list of current guest members at the bottom of the Classmates Profiles page.

Celebrating no. 55

The 55th anniversary of our class's graduation from ELHS was observed on Columbus Day weekend, October 12 and 13. This year the main event again was a dinner, held at the La Quinta Hotel in Springfield, MA.

This year the attendance was considerably smaller than it was for the 50th, but it's hard to beat a celebration of a half-century; "11/20 of a century" doesn't quite have the same pizzaz.

The attendees this year included Bill and Joyce Donovan, John and Sarah Waterman, Sue Broderick, Tom and Nancy Benton, Tom Bates, Nancy Laurier O'Callaghan, Pat Bean, Tom Sawyer, George and Carol Monte, Glenn Curtis and Brigitte Regnier, Bruce Garrett, Margo Merrigan Manning and Jim Manning, Marlene Wolpert Gondek and Jim Gondek, Joyce Mathews Bressem, Fran Cox Barber, Bill and Linda Thomas, Rosemary Tranghese Martone, Brian Johnson, Dana Shuart Carter, Barbara Bisi Howard and Marvin Howard, and Robin and Sandy Brown.

Special guests included three classmates from earlier years who went on to graduate from high schools elsewhere: Fred Welch, now in Dallas, Bob McIntire, now in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, and Roger and Pat Kasmer, now in Minnetonka, Minnesota. We also were honored by visits from retired math teacher and track coach Frank Dutille and Gil Congdon '62, a good friend of many in the Class of '64.

Many classmates who were unable to attend sent messages of good wishes and fond memories. They included Tim Moore (also, once again, responsible for the excellent photographs supplied by J. Fiereck), Lois Cruikshank Winters, Kathy Lemoine Steuernagel, Patricia Couri, Susan Joslin Kavanaugh, Skip Griffin, Ken Mosedale, Larry Helwig, Richard Bisi, Martha Mulcahey, Donna Peavey Vetorino, Jerry Bono, Tim Casey, Chris Bremner, Judy Phillips Bown, Donna  Gorman Bennett, Phil Keith, Marilyn Minor Wychroski, Susan Rising Derrick, Alison Rudkin, Patricia Rinaldi, Sharon Waite Mutzig, Wendy Westburg Hicks, Patti Woods Atkinson, and Karen Wilson McCormic.

Tom Benton provided a loop video of photos from the 50th Reunion, and Brigitte Regnier provided an audio background loop of favorite pop music hits from the late 60s and 70s, the well-remembered time that followed our graduation from ELHS.

The reunion weekend concluded with a Sunday brunch at the Nutmeg Restaurant. We were joined there by two more classmates, Cathy Glassanos Gobeille and Donna Peavey Veterino, who were unable to  join the festivities at La Quinta.

In 2020 we're hoping to continue the tradition of smaller, informal lunch get-togethers, which provide an opportunity to stay in touch with classmates living close to Springfield, Boston, or Cape Cod. We also hope that classmates are taking advantage of our class website to plan such events in other parts of the country.
